Everyone benefits from mainstream technology in our everyday lives. However, when advancing years or a disability limit one’s capabilities, assistive technology can work to bridge the gap. FREED, along with the statewide AT Network, provides a variety of services.
FREED AT services include:

- AT EQUIPMENT RECYCLING
FREED accepts donations of used items that are clean and in good repair and provides them to our consumers at no cost. We typically handle:
- MOBILITY AIDS, like wheelchairs, walkers, canes and ramps
- BATHROOM AIDS, like shower chairs, bedside commodes and toilet seat risers
- Sometimes we have hospital beds, transfer poles, seat-lift recliners, and more

- DEVICE LENDING LIBRARY
FREED has a wide variety of devices available to borrow. One may borrow one or more devices up to 3 months, for purposes like –
- To try a device before you purchase your own
- To cover a short term need for you, a visitor to your home, business, church or organization
- For a school or student, to meet an accommodation
- For an employer or prospective employee to demonstrate how an AT device can accommodate one’s disability in a workplace

The AT Network is a project of the California Department of Rehabilitation and the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers, financed by the US Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration with funds allocated by the 2004 Assistive Technology Act.
